It's Tuesday at 2:00pm! (PST Time: I live and work from Southern California)
Greetings to you!
Each week I send out a short leadership blog that's called "Tuesday at 2:00pm". The purpose of this is simply to provide a brief thought on leadership that you can read and think about in just a few minutes. I send it out every week at 2:00pm (PST) and encourage you to make an appointment with yourself to pause and think about the thing I'm writing about.

LEADERSHIP QUOTE:
"Leaders don't create followers, they create more leaders." Tom Peters
What does this stir up? Either write me HERE or comment at the end of the blog post HERE.
A LITTLE BIT DEEPER:
This Month we're going to explore some quotes on the theme of INFLUENCE. Click Here to see last weeks post.
This quote from Tom Peters is a good one. Peters wrote some great books but the one that stands out to me is his book "In Search of Excellence" written in 1982.
I found a great article from the Learn Loft that talks about 5 Things You Must Have To Create More Leaders. I'll summarize and you can read the full article with the link below.
John Geades shares:
Here are 5 non-negotiables if you're going to do this well:
#1) A Small Ego: It's impossible to build up others if you're focused on building up yourself.
#2) An Open Mind: "If you have an organization that can't change, it will become extinct." David Ossip
#3) A Humble Heart: "Talent is God-given. Be humble. Fame is man-given. Conceit is self-given. Be careful." John Wooden
#4) A Purpose Greater Than Yourself: Having a strong purpose for existing is one of the clearest and simplest ways to create more leaders in your organization.
#5) A Belief More Talent Is Around the Corner: If you get a reputation for developing talent and helping them move on, you will never have to worry about talent because more talented people will want to come join you.
Which one of these 5 do you need to start with? Remember, they're all non-negotiable!
DEEPER STILL:
In our culture, we celebrate followers. In fact, we even call people who have lot's of followers "influencers".
These people are celebrated, compensated and set up on a pedestal simply because there are lot's of people following their every move.
This is counter cultural to what we should be focusing on.
For me...
• I invest in others not for what they can do for me, but for what they're able to do and create for themselves.
• I invest in others because I realize I won't be here forever and I want to influence as many others possible.
• I invest in others because I have a lot to teach... I share my biggest mistakes and failures, I also share some of my biggest successes. If my story can help you in creating your own story, I'm happy to share both sides.
• I invest in others because there comes great satisfaction in seeing others grow, succeed and increase their influence.
Why do you focus on building up leaders instead of followers? What drives this in your life?

Tom Peters In Search of Excellence: Lessons from America's Best-Run Companies
I enjoyed some Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood the other day with my grandson. Great show, and lot's of memories of the influence of Mr. Rogers Neighborhood from my day!
A good friend of mine just wrote a book: Your Story for God's Glory: A Christian's Guiide to Sharing Your Faith with Confidence, Clarity and Impact. Check our Mary Ann's Book.
Last week, Gina and I participated in an event with Bracken's Kitchen here in Orange County. We love their vision, focus and impact they're making here with people experiencing food poverty.
