Tuesday at 2:00pm with Russ

It's Tuesday at 2:00pm! (PST Time: I live and work from Southern California)

All of our past posts have been placed HERE if you want to go back and read one.

Here's the word for today:  PIVOT

When you look it up, some of the words associated are:

TURN - ROTATE - REVOLVE - SPIN - TWIRL - OSCILLATE

I know that many of you feel like you're spinning today, but let's talk more about the word PIVOT.

In talking about a pivot in my business or organization, this can be defined as a "fundamental change", and we usually make this change when we realize that what we've been doing isn't working anymore.

Last week, I was having a conversation with a good friend, and he used the word PIVOT.  I've been thinking about that word all week, and I can't tell you how many times other people have been throwing that word around as well as in my face. It's a great word for us today.

I called my friend Phil yesterday, and we had a 10 minutes conversation where he shared more about what this word means, and how he's been able to make some "fundamental changes" to his model as a PIVOT STRATEGY.

Watch this clip, then I'll share a couple of questions:

Thanks Phil for sharing those thoughts.

In your personal life, what PIVOTS have you had to make during this season? I imagine there have been many.

In your work life, what PIVOTS have you made or are in the process of making?

Here's the difficult question:  What is keeping you from making these changes?

I want to encourage you today to take some time to explore and examine potential PIVOTS in your life and your work that will help you increase your effectiveness.

Here are a couple I've been working on...

- How can I continue to provide coaching and encouragement to leaders around the world when I can't get on a plane to see them and spend time with them?

- How do I adapt my work style and habits to support my wife as we both work and do everything from home?

- How do I connect with family and friends intentionally without being able to be physically with them?

- How do I plan for a short-term and a long-term strategy when the canvas Is changing everyday?

I'm sure you've been learning to PIVOT as well. Don't be afraid of it. As Phil shared, there will come some new opportunities that you never imaged as a result of "holding the ball, looking around the court, and moving in a new direction."
