It's Tuesday at 2:00pm! (PST Time: I live and work from Southern California)
All of our past posts have been placed HERE if you want to go back and read one.
CHANGE.
Everything is changing.
I celebrated a birthday this past week, and I can tell you, I'm changing!
The toll of 56 years of life has affected my body and I feel those creaks and pains in a new way. My body is changing.
But I'm also changing for the good hopefully! I'm thinking clearer, I understand my purpose, I'm enjoying the stage of life I'm in, and the changes coming at me are OK.
Change is inevitable, you can't stop it!
Heraclitus, the Greek philosopher said:
"Change is the only constant in life."
In an article from the Business Insider in 2018, Lindsay Dodgson shares some really good and simple thoughts about dealing with change that were taken from Christopher Harvey. They are relevant to us today and I want to encourage you to embrace these as I am working on these as well. The full article is HERE.
5 Steps to help you through changes in your life. The BOLD is from the article, the comments below are mine.
#1) IDENTIFY WHAT YOU CAN AND CANNOT CONTROL
Again, change is coming, and it's really important to figure out what is completely out of your control and what you can take responsibility for. This is an important step in "influencing" change. Define the controllability!
#2) MAKE TIME TO TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF
We can address change best when we're healthy. Sleep, eat right, exercise, have nurturing relationships, and be in a good place. You'll see change really differently when you come at it from health.
#3) WORK OUT YOUR THOUGHT PATTERN
The article talks about the action of writing down your thought pattern from start to finish, starting when the change happened and finishing with the end result and how it made you feel. I want to encourage you to simply record the process. Taking the time to articulate, think through and define is really important.
#4) BE IN THE MOMENT
Don't get caught looking back, but be where you need to be right now. Sometimes we get stuck trying to figure out what happened instead of responding to the need and opportunity for change.
#5) IDENTIFY WHAT'S IMPORTANT TO YOU
Define the non-negotiables of what is most important to you. Compromise is often a part of change, so understand clearly what is a priority to you before adapting.
We are all facing and addressing change from all areas of our lives, especially today. Don't panic!
Bob Dylan sings this song, "Times They Are A-Changing". He sings this in 1964, the year I was born. Enjoy this song from 56 years ago and remember, you're not alone. We're all a-changing!

"Growth is painful. Change is painful. But nothing is as painful as staying stuck somewhere you don't belong." N.R. Narayana Murthy
"You can't go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending." C.S. Lewis
