Tuesday at 2:00pm with Russ

It's Tuesday at 2:00pm! (PST Time: I live and work from Southern California)

Currently, I'm exploring different leadership quotes on this blog post, and pulling out some application for all of us. This is part of my personal journey to keep growing, learning and being stretched! Join me each Tuesday at 2:00pm (PST). It will take you just a few minutes to read through the 2 sections of this post, but don't miss the final section where I share some of the things I'm reading, listening to and enjoying this week.

LEADERSHIP QUOTE:

"Your perspective will either be your prison or passport." Steven Furtick

What does this stir up? Either write me HERE or comment at the end of the blog post HERE.

A LITTLE BIT DEEPER:

We've been camped on vision for a while, and I want make a turn to this idea of perspective, and Steven Furticks quote launches that.

Perspective can be simply defined as your point of view; the way you look at something.

Furticks quotes gives us 2 sides of perspective:

We're either TRAPPED by our perspective, and we feel there is no hope or purpose, and we're paralyzed.

Or, we're FREE by our perspective, and everything opens up: Our mind, heart and soul. We see the world in a new way and broaden our view.

That's the power of perspective and many times we lean automatically into feeling trapped, and we miss the freedom that comes from looking at things a little differently.

How will you choose to view your circumstances? As a PRISON or as a PASSPORT? What's keeping you from freedom?

DEEPER STILL:

It's almost June the 1st, 2022 and while this year seems to be flying by, many of us are still making adjustments to a "new world" following the past number of years of change, challenge and transition.

I remember thinking in early 2020 when the Covid era was just beginning, "when would we return to normal". Do you remember thinking that way?

Somewhere along the way, I realized that there was going to be a new normal, and we're all playing that out now.

  • Planning still has its challenges as we realize that it's difficult to know what will be happening in the coming days, weeks or months.

  • I have found that sometimes I choose to be "safe" and take less risk because I am not in control of my surroundings or I don't want to push people into areas they might be uncomfortable.

  • Some of the things that changed have been good and I wouldn't want to go back to the way things were.

I could go on and on, but we have all learned in a changing world that our perspective plays a huge part in how we respond, how we react and how we lead.

Let's spend some time looking at perspective and defining some of the things we're learned along the way.

Perspective is personal. It's your point of view that is influence by many factors that affect you personally. Perspective sets the tone for your action and your responses.
