It's Tuesday at 2:00pm! (PST Time: I live and work from Southern California)
LEADERSHIP QUOTES
We're exploring some great quotes that will help us in our lives and leadership. If you'd like to share your favorite with me, please post on the comments section of the Blog. You can read these past posts HERE.
The format for this season is the following:
#1) LEADERSHIP QUOTE: I'm going to share a quote with you. I'd like to encourage you to think about it, respond to it, process it. You can stop here, or go to Section 2.
#2) A LITTLE BIT DEEPER: I'm going to share a couple of thoughts that come to my mind when I think about the quote. Just a short reaction from me. You can stop here, or go to Section 3.
#3) DEEPER STILL: I'm going to share something I've found from someone else: A quote, some tips, a challenge, a thought....
#4) RUSS' LIST: I'll continue to share some links, ideas, books or products that I think some of you might benefit from.

LEADERSHIP QUOTE:
"You can't go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending." C.S. Lewis
What does this stir up? Either write me HERE or comment at the end of the blog post HERE.
A LITTLE BIT DEEPER:
There's some debate as to whether C.S. Lewis actually said this, or if he said it in another form, but the quote has been attributed to him, and I saw it the other day, and thought it was a really appropriate quote to dig into.
Do you find yourself living in the world or REGRET
or do you live in the world of HOPE?
The other day I was talking with some good friends about how to manage change, and was reminded of the thought that many times we are living in the past; we're looking at our history and we're not seeing where we're going.
Today, I want to encourage you to think about where you are today, and to identify the things you can change and start doing that need some attention, and just start!
The best way to do this is to simply do a personal audit. Ask yourself how you're doing in a variety of areas of your life, and do an honest appraisal. There will be some things that bubble up that need some immediate attention.... pay attention to those!
DEEPER STILL:
Michael Hyatt shares in his book, Your Best Life Ever, "We all want to live a life that matters..." but he goes on to share that we're often so overwhelmed with life that we never get to the things we really need to get to. This book helps you create some goals and a plan that will move you towards where you need to be.
I resonate with that. The other day, I was thinking about the craziness of the past month, and I was looking at the month ahead of me (November) and I began to craft some goals. These weren't huge goals, but just some things that I had lost sight of that I wanted to re-integrate into my life. I made a plan, and over the next 30 days, I hope to re-ignite some habits in my life that have gone dormant.
Life is like that: It's a series of incredible events, seasons, and fullness that often leaves us exhausted, out of touch with our personal needs and dreams, and in survival mode.
This month... join me in starting wherever you are and possibly changing your ending. The things you identify and focus on will hopefully be things that will really make a difference in your life.
Don't worry about yesterday. Today is where you need to focus!
I identified one thing in each of the 5 domains of my life: Personal (things I control), Family, Work, Faith & Community. Each day this month I'm focusing on bringing these things back into the routine of my life. What are you missing?
(I'm happy to share more detail on this... just send me a note!)
Things I'm Reading, Listening To and Watching This Week:
Michael Hyatt's book, Your Best Life Ever
I was introduced this week to Helado Negro, an Ecuadorian musician who has a blend of bilingual tunes that bring electronic, pop and traditional music for a unique indie blend. I've enjoyed his Apple Essentials Album.
I really enjoyed The Kevin Rose Show featuring Dr. Matt Walker. This entire episode focuses on Optimizing Sleep, and I learned a number of things about my struggle with sleep. Listen to it! You'll be challenged!
OK... Gina and I have enjoyed a regular meal at CAVA. CAVA is a mediterranean chain that we often pick-up and bring home. You might have one near you in the USA, and if you do, you should try it out.
Since we're talking about Goals & Plans, I wanted to encourage you to check out EVERNOTE. I use this to dream, to track ideas across devices, and to organize projects. It's a great tool that I use on a daily basis!
