It's Tuesday at 2:00pm! (PST Time: I live and work from Southern California)
LEADERSHIP QUOTES
We're exploring some great quotes that will help us in our lives and leadership. If you'd like to share your favorite with me, please post on the comments section of the Blog. You can read these past posts HERE.
The format for this season is the following:
#1) LEADERSHIP QUOTE: I'm going to share a quote with you. I'd like to encourage you to think about it, respond to it, process it. You can stop here, or go to Section 2.
#2) A LITTLE BIT DEEPER: I'm going to share a couple of thoughts that come to my mind when I think about the quote. Just a short reaction from me. You can stop here, or go to Section 3.
#3) DEEPER STILL: I'm going to share something I've found from someone else: A quote, some tips, a challenge, a thought....
#4) RUSS' LIST: I'll continue to share some links, ideas, books or products that I think some of you might benefit from.

LEADERSHIP QUOTE:
"Don't be afraid. I'm here to announce a great and joyful event that is meant for everybody, worldwide: A Savior has just been born in David's town, a Savior who is Messiah and Master." Luke 2 (msg)

A LITTLE BIT DEEPER:
These words are so powerful.... "Don't be afraid."
The message was a great message, filled with hope and promise.
The shepherds were excited to see this for themselves, so they left, "running" to find Jesus.
But when the angel appeared to them, their initial response was fear. They were actually terrified of the angel, maybe the bright light, maybe being surprised.
While the shepherds first response was fear, how do you think you would have responded? Would you have made the shift from "fear" to "joy" as quickly as they did, or would you have responded with doubt and questioning?
DEEPER STILL:
I would hope that I would transition as the shepherds did to joy, but I wonder if my skeptical nature would have kicked in. My ability to question everything, to doubt, to want to be sure, to want to measure the risk.
The message from the angel was then magnified as a "multitude of the heavenly host" showed up saying:
"Glory to God in the heavenly heights, Peace to all men and women on earth who please him."
He brings PEACE.
I don't have to be afraid, He brings PEACE.
I don't have to doubt, He brings PEACE.
I don't have to live in fear, He brings PEACE.
The quote I'd like you to think about this week is the simple line.... "Don't Be Afraid." I don't know what you might be afraid of, but this season, we celebrate the one who brings PEACE to us, and who takes that fear away.
Merry Christmas to each of you.
Celebrate His Peace
Things I'm Reading, Listening To and Watching This Week:
I'm re-reading 2 books over the next 3 weeks. Both have caused me think, to stop, to slow down, and to listen better. The first is John Mark Comers book, The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry. This is a book I've revisited a couple of times over the past 2 years. The second is Mark Battersons book, Win The Day. Both books create opportunity for reflection, great conversation with Gina, and help my plan for the coming year.
I listened to Luis Miguel Navidades this week a couple of times as I worked in my office... I love some of the traditional Christmas songs sung in Spanish!
I listened to an interesting podcast from Tim Ferriss Show this week as he interviews Jerry Colonna and they talk about the need for sabbatical and taking care of your health. Some good take aways.
OK, I'm a LifePlan Nerd. The best chart paper for any planning is Anchor Chart Paper. No bleed, great lines, I go through a lot of it in m office!
