It's Tuesday at 2:00pm! (PST Time: I live and work from Southern California)
Last week I talked about PREDICTIONS. If you missed it, read the post HERE.
John Wayne from Mozambique shared this...
"I Remember once reading this: 'The only way to predict the future is to study the past'. It's helped me to learn from the life lessons of those that have gone ahead of me."
Thanks John Wayne. The quote he shared is credited to to Robert Kiyosaki, and the full quote says: "The best way to predict the future is to study the past, or prognosticate."
Today I want to share something I've been thinking about over the past number of weeks. At a planning session, someone shared this idea with me in talking about planning and implementation of a project:
The idea is pretty simple: CRAWL - WALK - RUN
In your planning, identify things that will be a slow start, or maybe even baby steps. Then identify things that you can increase the pace on, then identify things that are a full run.
In planning we often go from 0 to 60 immediately, and we don't take slower steps towards the goal.
When you slow down the process, you'll make less mistakes, you'll be able to learn and adapt more quickly, and you'll be able to bring people into the process.
When you're ready to launch something new, identify ways you can "crawl" into it; then "walk" to it, then "run" into it. It's a process of execution.
When I first heard this, it caused me to think about a couple of projects I've been dreaming about and I decided to slow the process down and word harder to build the foundation and grow into it, rather than to just "Ready, Aim, Fire". I don't know if you can resonate with me or not.
Think about some things you're working on, and identify some "crawl, walk and run" action steps that will get you to your desired outcome.
That's it today. I hope you're able to think about it the same way I was.
Here are 2 more images for you to ponder:
This adds the element of LEAP or JUMP
This adds the element of FLY
There's a process to everything we do. This can be applied to a project you're considering at work, or a personal goal around your health and nutrition.
Break it down into bite-sized chunks. Accelerate when it's appropriate.
"If you can't fly, then run.
If you can't run, then walk.
If you can't walk, then crawl.
But by all means, keep moving."
