Tuesday at 2:00pm with Russ

It's Tuesday at 2:00pm! (PST Time: I live and work from Southern California)

Last week I talked about this "Crawl - Walk - Run" model. If you missed it, read the post HERE.

The idea is pretty simple: CRAWL - WALK - RUN

Pedro from Ecuador shared this in the comment section of the blog:

"Russ, your post reminded me of a saying from my dad:

"I can lift up 1,000 lbs, but 100 lbs at a time".

It implies a lot, doing your best effort, knowing your limits, having big goals and accepting challenges.. starting with baby steps and accumulating your results."

Thanks Pedro for sharing that. Great saying from your dad! Thanks for passing that along.

Today, I want to illustrate this concept from a company I follow and one that I was reminded of yesterday in the Dallas Airport.

I wear Stance Socks. Many of you know about my love of orange socks, but the reality is that it's not just the orange, it's the brand: STANCE.

I found this local company here in Southern California years ago, and became a raving fan, even giving out Orange Socks at our last Leader Mundial Summit in Atlanta last year.

When I first found the socks, I could only find them at 2 stores near where their company is based.

The company started in 2009, and they have sold over 50 million pair of socks. They are now branching into other clothing items and they are sold all over the world.

When I look at their history, they started simply selling a high quality, comfortable sock. They then found ways to expand their brand by having high profile people endorse and wear their product. They grew one step at a time.

In 2015, they became the official sock of the NBA and MLB in the United States.

Here's the lesson:

*They started in 2009 with a vision and a new company.

*They worked hard.

*They grew step by step, with some huge growth opportunities along the way.

*Yesterday, I saw this in the Dallas Airport:

This doesn't mean that STANCE has arrived. It just means that for the past 9 years they've been working on building a brand and increasing their sales.

CRAWL - WALK - RUN

Today they're RUNNING.

VISION TAKES TIME. BE PATIENT. WORK HARD.

Think of something you've been working on for a long time that just hasn't gotten where you want it to go. Are you willing to keep working on it? Will it ever accomplish what you intended it to do?

Share a story with us of something that has just taken time to move from CRAWL to WALK to RUN. What did you learn in the process? What would you do differently looking back at it now?
