Tuesday at 2:00pm with Russ

It's Tuesday at 2:00pm! (PST Time: I live and work from Southern California)

WHAT'S IMPORTANT NOW?

This is a question in LifePlanning that we ask regularly, and it does a couple of things at the same time:

First, it puts you in the MOMENT. What is important for you to focus on right now? What things are the most important and the most urgent? What needs to be done first?

Second, it helps you to identify things that you can put-off for LATER. This isn't about procrastination, but it's about timing. There are things that don't need to be accomplished today, so don't think about them yet.

This past week I facilitated a LifePlan for an Executive Leader here in Orange County. Towards the end of the facilitation, during a short break, I wrote on a piece of paper, "Russ, What's Important Now?" After finishing the LifePlan and sending this executive on his way, I picked up that paper and spent some time with my calendar and to-do list, simply making some notes of some things that I had avoided completing, and I identified them as "important now". The reminder prompted me to ask myself that question.

I'll begin the week working that list of tasks, but it was a good reminder to me.

Many times we all keep very busy, doing a lot of tasks and things that we think we NEED to do. When we stop for a moment and simply ask, "What's Important Now?" it helps us with priorities and timing.

This past weekend many of us celebrated Easter. For Christians, this day is celebrated as one of the most important days of our lives, of our faith! Christs resurrection and the empty tomb is reason to celebrate, and if any of us asked ourself this question, "What's Important Now?" we would need to respond with:

  • GRATITUDE for Life, Death, and New Life for each of us

  • HOPE for a future, "Because He Lives"

  • JOY for today, because He lives in us and wants to work in us and through us.

"...That he was buried; that he was raised from death on the third day, again exactly as Scripture says; that he presented himself alive to Peter, then to his closest followers, and later to more than five hundred of his followers all at the same time, most of them still around; that he spent time with James and the rest of those he commissioned to represent him; and that he finally presented himself alive to me." 1 Corinthians 15 Paul

"What's important now? - To evaluate the past, focus on the future, and tell you what you have to do in the present." Lou Holtz

"If you continually ask yourself, 'What's Important Now?', you won't waste time on the trivial." Lou Holtz

"I know for sure what we dwell on is who we become." Oprah Winfrey
