It's Tuesday at 2:00pm! (PST Time: I live and work from Southern California)
LEADERSHIP QUOTES
I'm going to spend a few weeks looking at some great quotes. We started 3 weeks ago with a quote from Genghis Khan, then a quote from Eleanor Roosevelt, than last week from Ghandi. Here's the format:
#1) LEADERSHIP QUOTE: I'm going to share a quote with you. I'd like to encourage you to think about it, respond to it, process it. You can stop here, or go to Section 2
#2) A LITTLE BIT DEEPER: I'm going to share a couple of thoughts that come to my mind when I think about the quote. Just a short reaction from me. You can stop here, or go to Section 3.
#3) DEEPER STILL: I'm going to share something I've found from someone else: A quote, some tips, a challenge, a thought....
#4) RUSS' LIST: I'll continue to share some links, ideas, books or products that I think some of you might benefit from.
My dad recently gave me a book of quotes, and as I've sat to think about them, I thought it would be fun to process with you as well. Go as deep as you'd like each week, and let me know what you're thinking about.

"Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower." Steve Jobs
What does this stir up? Either write me HERE or comment at the end of the blog post HERE.
A LITTLE BIT DEEPER:
I purchased a new iPad this past week, and have been enjoying setting things up on it, getting it synced with my computer and cloud, and using it.
The amazing thing is that the "joy" began with the packaging. The quality, design and efficiency was over the top. It made this set-up process so much more enjoyable because everything was designed with me in mind.
I realize that many times, I cut the corners of innovation because I don't have the time to think it through, I don't want to spend the money to create a higher quality, and I choose to do things the easiest and quickest way.
Steve Jobs drove people crazy with his pursuit of innovation and to do things in a way that no one else had ever done before.
Here's my question: How does innovation impact your life as a leader? In reading Jobs quote, how does innovation distinguish between a leader and a follower?
DEEPER STILL:
I recently heard Skye Jethani challenge a leadership community I'm a part of to "think differently" and to "get creative". He believes that we have forgotten our ability to dream and think outside the box.
He reminded us of Jesus. Jesus said things that no one had ever heard. Jesus did things that no one had ever seen. Jesus went places no one expected him to go. Jesus engaged with people that no one else would engage with. He did things differently.
He was an innovator, and as a result, he changed everything.
Steve Jobs changed the way we see and experience technology.
Jesus changed the way we do life, and death, and everything in between.
Be a follower of Jesus, but bring creativity, innovation and a fresh perspective on everything we do, to everyone we encounter and learn to think outside the box.

This book was recommended to me last week, and I started listening to it on Audible, and I can't stop. I ordered the book as well and am enjoying it: THIRST by Scott Harrison, Founder & CEO of Charity: Water
On the playlist today: Dire Straights Essentials
You might be wondering what iPad I am working on now. I just upgraded to an 12.9 inch iPad Pro with a Magic Keyboard. I'm using this as my travel & work computer, connected to my desktop in my office.
If you want to read about Steve Jobs, I enjoyed reading this book by Walter Isaacson from 2011, Steve Jobs: The Exclusive Biography.
If you want to read Jesus' biography, you can simply read The Bible, or if you need one, for $2.99 you can get This One.
