It's Tuesday at 2:00pm! (PST Time: I live and work from Southern California)
LEADERSHIP QUOTES
I'm going to spend a few weeks looking at some great quotes. We started 2 weeks ago with a quote from Genghis Khan, then last week shared a quote from Eleanor Roosevelt. Here's the format:
#1) LEADERSHIP QUOTE: I'm going to share a quote with you. I'd like to encourage you to think about it, respond to it, process it. You can stop here, or go to Section 2.
#2) A LITTLE BIT DEEPER: I'm going to share a couple of thoughts that come to my mind when I think about the quote. Just a short reaction from me. You can stop here, or go to Section 3.
#3) DEEPER STILL: I'm going to share something I've found from someone else: A quote, some tips, a challenge, a thought....
#4) RUSS' LIST: I'll continue to share some links, ideas, books or products that I think some of you might benefit from.
My dad recently gave me a book of quotes, and as I've sat to think about them, I thought it would be fun to process with you as well. Go as deep as you'd like each week, and let me know what you're thinking about.

LEADERSHIP QUOTE:
"My life is my message." Mohandas Gandhi
What does this stir up? Either write me HERE or comment at the end of the blog post HERE.
A LITTLE BIT DEEPER:
What MESSAGE is my life sending? Gandhi gave his life to fighting for civil rights, and his message was clear in that everything he did supported his message.
When people look at your life or at my life, what MESSAGE are they getting?
Leadership is about INFLUENCE.
Here's an interesting question to ask: When you die, what do you want people to say about you? What do you want people to associate with you and your life? Does this align with your MESSAGE?
DEEPER STILL:
It was said of Gandhi: "The simple principles by which he lived - nonviolence and truth - were as old as the hills, and the only way to spread them was to live them. He never expected his followers to do anything that he would not do himself."
In the first chapter of Acts, we're charged to be "WITNESSES". A witness is someone who sees something firsthand or has proof of something. We're called to be HIS WITNESSES, and another way to be a witness is to let others see the truth and the hope in our lives.
Jesus said, "Come, and Follow Me." (Matthew 4)
As a Christian, I'm challenged and commanded to go out with the message, yet I fail and I forget. I want to be someone who people know and who can see my message loud and clear through my life.
Things I'm Reading, Listening To and Watching This Week:
This past week, I hosted an online webinar for The Barnabas Group with Jim Burns, a good friend and a life mentor. He talked from his book, "Doing Life With Your Adult Children" and I was reminded of some great things that all parents need to be reminded of. Check out his book, or visit his website at HomeWord.Com
OK... Fathers Day at my house this year was a blend of incredible Ecuadorian Food, including some of my favorites: Ceviche de Camaron, Lomo con Chimichuri, Llapingachos with peanut sauce, Berry Cobbler and some Lenteja (lentils). My mouth continues to water and I thank my family for an incredible day together and a wonderful meal. Here is some other great Ecuadorian Food!
I've always enjoyed the music and guitar of Cheryl Crow. This week I've enjoyed listening to her Essentials Album on Apple.
I use this USB Charging HUB when I travel, and now at home! Works great to charge and power my devices.
