It's Tuesday at 2:00pm! (PST Time: I live and work from Southern California)
Currently, I'm exploring different leadership quotes on this blog post, and pulling out some application for all of us. This is part of my personal journey to keep growing, learning and being stretched! Join me each Tuesday at 2:00pm (PST). It will take you just a few minutes to read through the 2 sections of this post, but don't miss the final section where I share some of the things I'm reading, listening to and enjoying this week.

LEADERSHIP QUOTE:
"Management is doing things right; Leadership is doing the right things." Peter F. Drucker
What does this stir up? Either write me HERE or comment at the end of the blog post HERE.
A LITTLE BIT DEEPER:
I learned about Peter Drucker when I was studying business in university years ago. I remember really liking some of the things he said and I resonated with them. I'm going to spend some time unpacking some of my favorite quotes from Drucker.
If you don't know who he is, CLICK HERE for a quick overview.
The quote above is something that is foundational to Druckers vision for organizational leadership. He focused on culture and on behavior at a time when everyone else was focused on sales and results.
I remember writing a paper in graduate school on this quote, and the process of trying to determine what kind of leader I was going to be pushed me to want to learn more about myself, my goals and my style.
When you think about this quote, what NAMES OF PEOPLE come to mind that were either great Managers or great Leaders?
DEEPER STILL:
We need both Managers and Leaders, but there is a difference.
Manfred Kets De Vries makes a distinction between leaders and managers in his book, "The Leadership Mystique" and here's some of what he's saying:
Leadership Focus:
Future Oriented
Change
Vision
Why
Delegate
Simplification
Intuition
Broad view on the society
Management Focus:
Today's Focus
Stability
Rules & Instruction
How
Control, Complexification
Logic
Internal Focus on the Organization
We need them both, but each carry out a different and separate function.
Which one are you most comfortable with? Leadership or Management? Why?

Played this game with some family members this weekend, and while we all looked ridiculous, it was really fun! Check it out: Pencil Nose
If you're in Southern California and you'd like to attend an upcoming Barnabas Summit this Friday, reach out to me. I'd like to invite you as my guest to come and see what Barnabas is all about!
This is a great way to read Drucker, small bite at a time: The Daily Drucker
I'm still working my way through the John Eldredge book, "Resilient". Really good words and challenge to trust God to restore my "weary soul". I'm really enjoying the book.
