LEADERSHIP QUOTES

We're exploring some great quotes that will help us in our lives and leadership. If you'd like to share your favorite with me, please post on the comments section of the Blog. You can read these past posts HERE.

The format for this season is the following:

#1) LEADERSHIP QUOTE: I'm going to share a quote with you. I'd like to encourage you to think about it, respond to it, process it. You can stop here, or go to Section 2.

#2) A LITTLE BIT DEEPER: I'm going to share a couple of thoughts that come to my mind when I think about the quote. Just a short reaction from me. You can stop here, or go to Section 3.

#3) DEEPER STILL: I'm going to share something I've found from someone else: A quote, some tips, a challenge, a thought....

#4) RUSS' LIST: I'll continue to share some links, ideas, books or products that I think some of you might benefit from.

LEADERSHIP QUOTE:

"Be strong. Take courage. Don't be intimidated. Don't give them a second thought because God, your God, is striding ahead of you. He's right there with you. He won't let you down; he won't leave you."

Deuteronomy 31:6 MSG

What does this stir up? Either write me HERE or comment at the end of the blog post HERE.

A LITTLE BIT DEEPER:

On January 1st, I was on a walk and these words just began swimming around in my head....

"Be strong and courageous; Be strong and courageous"

I've been thinking about them for a few days and when I looked up a passage in the Bible that talks about this, it's the story of Moses giving this message from God to Joshua. Joshua would need all the strength and courage needed to lead the Israelites across the River Jordan to the promised land.

But these words are for me as well.... and for you.

It's 2022. It's a New Year. New challenges, new opportunities, new fears, new hurdles, new stories. It's all new.

But, if you're like me, you're questioning the road ahead, you're wondering what will it be like, you're concerned things will be the same, you're tired of the constant changes and challenges, and you just want to know how to plan!

Here's my plan: Be strong. Be courageous. Don't be intimidated. Why? Because MY God is with me. He won't leave me and he won't let me down.

I don't know what you're facing this year, but this message is for you.

DEEPER STILL:

As I continued to think about these words... "strong and courageous", I also identified some areas of my life that I needed to apply these words to.

Over the next couple of months I want to continue to pursue quotes that speak to these topics, but I want to dive a little deeper into 3 areas of my life:

PURPOSE - PACE - PRODUCTIVITY

I'm not sure at this point what this looks like, but I feel that I need to do some personal work in these areas.

While I enjoy New Years Resolutions, I'm learning that if there are goals and habits I need to address, I can't wait until the New Year to dive in. I need to be willing to address them at anytime, however, there's something about a fresh start and a clean slate that motivates me to define and charge forward with a new intentionality. What about you?

Things I'm Reading, Listening To and Watching This Week:

  • I listen to 2 short podcasts each morning on my walk. Robinhood Snacks is a fun podcast from the financial sector. Really enjoyable to listen to and I always learn something. I then listen to NPR's Up First which is just 3 short news stories. I then will dig for more information later, but it's just a highlight. 3 stories from each podcast, each one about 13 - 15 minutes long.

  • As a family, we enjoy this game... and we hate it at the same time. You'll catch the fever as well! Dutch Blitz

  • Here's a flashback to some great music: Keith Green Essentials on Apple Music. He was such an influence in my life while I was in middle school. Great to hear his voice again through his music.

  • This year I'm using Michael Hyatts Full Focus Planner. For years I created an "action list" that I use daily to plan and define projects. This planner is a system to do that, and I'm learning how to use it. I like the layout and the support from the Michael Hyatt Company There are many versions of the planner that you can choose from.
