It's Tuesday at 2:00pm! (PST Time: I live and work from Southern California)
Currently, I'm exploring different leadership quotes on this blog post, and pulling out some application for all of us. This is part of my personal journey to keep growing, learning and being stretched! Join me each Tuesday at 2:00pm (PST). It will take you just a few minutes to read through the 2 sections of this post, but don't miss the final section where I share some of the things I'm reading, listening to and enjoying this week.

LEADERSHIP QUOTE:
"There is nothing so useless as doing efficiently that which should not be done at all." Peter F. Drucker
What does this stir up? Either write me HERE or comment at the end of the blog post HERE.
A LITTLE BIT DEEPER:
So many good Drucker quotes, but this will be the last one at this time.
I'm getting ready to take some time to do some planning, thinking and dreaming for 2023, and this quote is something I have taped up on my computer screen!
This should be a great reminder to all of us.
Sometimes, we spend so much time perfecting the way we are doing something, or working on something that really doesn't make a difference.
Stephen Covey talks about this in his Time Management Matrix and he's talking about Quadrant III and Quadrant IV. Learn what this matrix is HERE.
Sometimes we get lost in things that might be "good" but they're not "important".
I'll give you some examples from my life below, but this isn't that difficult for us to examine.
What have you learned to do in your life to be focused on the RIGHT things? What triggers have you found that pull you away from those things?
DEEPER STILL:
When I think of Quadrant III and Quadrant IV in my life, here's where I get pulled in:
When I'm TIRED or BORED with what I'm currently working on, I tend to create things that excite me.... launching a new program, exploring new software or pursuing a new partnership. These aren't bad in and of themselves, but often they aren't the priority, it's just a symptom in my life that I need to be aware of.
When I'm FRUSTRATED or DISCOURAGED by something in my current job, I tend to look for something that is fun, exciting and affirming. Instead of dealing directly with the issue, sometimes I avoid it by spending time doing something that is more rewarding.
When I'm OVERWHELMED or TOO BUSY, I look for easy things to get done instead of focusing on the biggest challenge and the thing that requires the most energy and focus. In this way, I can procrastinate the important things by doing lots of little things that are all good.
Here's the deal though... I KNOW THIS ABOUT ME and because I know it, I look for these symptoms, these triggers and these distractions and I try to catch it before I lose time, focus and momentum.
What are your triggers? What pulls you into the NOT IMPORTANT?
We're all going to be distracted and pulled into things that aren't the most important things. This is just the way things work. However, each of us need to be able to identify that and figure out how to make the adjustments needed to stay on course.
Things I'm Reading, Listening To and Watching This Week:
We're cheering for Ecuador in the World Cup. They are off to a great start! Join us as they conquer the world!
This is a great way to read Drucker, one small bite at a time: The Daily Drucker
In The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Stephen R. Covey not only helps us with our time and priorities, but helps us with LIFE. One of my all-time favorite books.
This ones for you Phil.... Miro.com is a virtual whiteboard that you can share. I'm exploring it and learning more about how it works.
Gina and I were introduced to a great show on Netflix this week: Somebody Feed Phil. We especially liked the episodes from Argentina, Mexico and South Africa!
