Tuesday at 2:00pm with Russ

It's Tuesday at 2:00pm! (PST Time: I live and work from Southern California)

In this New Year I'm going to continue to explore some leadership quotes that might challenge us, inspire us or remind us of different aspects of the leadership journey. This is part of my personal journey to keep growing, learning and being stretched! Join me each Tuesday at 2:00pm (PST). It will take you just a few minutes to read through the 2 sections of this post, but don't miss the final section where I share some of the things I'm reading, listening to and enjoying this week.

I also invite you to share your favorite quote with a short description of "why it's your favorite". Simply send it to me HERE and I'll post it in an upcoming Tuesday at 2:00pm.

You can find past posts on my website HERE.

Enjoy!

LEADERSHIP QUOTE:

"The best is yet to come"

Frank Sinatra

What does this stir up? Either write me HERE or comment at the end of the blog post HERE.

A LITTLE BIT DEEPER:

Frank said it best in his song, The Best Is Yet To Come, but many people have talked about what is to come.

I like Zig Ziglars thoughts when he said:

"Always remember that your present situation is not your final destination. The best is yet to come."

Jesus says it best in Matthew 6:34:

"Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don't get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes." MSG

It's a New Year, and we're all looking forward with anticipation.

Start by Looking Back: Begin the New Year with some perspective from Last Year. What did you learn, what were you challenged by, what do you NOT want to repeat? Spend some time looking back before you move forward.

DEEPER STILL:

After I spend some time looking back, I look forward and begin to map out my journey for the weeks and months ahead into the New Year.

Some of you might feel you need to have done this in 2022 to be ready to go for 2023, however I've learned that it takes me a couple of weeks in the New Year to find my "groove" and "rhythm".

Don't panic, just start by taking some baby steps and move towards what you hope to accomplish, achieve and BE in this New Year.

2023 is HERE!

I encourage you to identify 3 - 5 goals for the year, things that you are hoping to accomplish in any domain of your life, and begin working towards those things. They usually don't just happen, but it takes some time and strategy to move towards them.

Things I'm Reading, Listening To and Watching This Week:

  • I listen to 2 short podcasts on my daily walk each day. The first is Up First from NPR. This is a short overview of usually 3 top news stories happening in the world. The second podcast is called The Best One Yet and it's a fun look at finance. Both of these short podcasts just help me to get thinking and moving each day. Check them out.

  • I ended last year sharing a book by John Eldredge called "Resilient". Well, I'm back again and this word is becoming a word of focus for me in this new year. If you haven't read this book, get it and join me on the journey.

  • Someone recently asked me what the best book is for time management and leadership. I pointed them towards the classic, "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" by Stephen R. Covey. I think this book is for everyone and there are principles that you can apply to every area of your life. If you haven't read this yet, this is the year!

  • I'm enjoying some great coffee from Jedidiah Coffee in Laguna Beach California. Check them out.

  • Enjoy all Franks "Best" with Nothing But the Best on Apple Music.

FEATURED GUEST QUOTE: From Joshua in Manila

"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not." Dr. Seuss, The Lorax

The change and impact I am looking for starts when I simply start caring. Just like how Jesus cared for you and me while we were ignoring Him and did not care about God. Yet He died for for us because of that great love and care. That brought transformation and impact in our lives.
